A FEW WORDS TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND EDDA’S EDDA

Edda’s Edda is a collection of tales that draws inspiration from the works of Swedish author Kata Dalström, who penned two books on Norse mythology and the Icelandic sagas for young readers in the late 1880s. However, where Kata set out to preserve something great and instil a sense of national pride in the children of her time, our Edda views most interpretations of our past with a critical eye and has decided to write an Edda of her own to set the records straight.

Few are more intimately familiar with the ancient accounts than the sagacious Saga of Lore and Legend, First Daughter of the Well. For millennia she has served as the primary guardian of fledgling fylgjur, endowing each little one with just the right amount of courage and wisdom needed for their individual tasks. She firmly believes in the sanctity of certain tales and says that not all knowledge is meant to reach every eye and ear.

When you read her stories, bear in mind that she may very well choose to keep some truths to herself, and offer up delicately altered versions of others. But then again, not everything in the world of legends is as it seems. As anybody who knows anything about storytelling will tell you – that’s a tale as old as time.
